Working on storyboards! Please pardon the visual vectorism of Storyboard Pro lol.
I figured Pendleton liked pineapple, because it was so exotic for him, so during our pitches today I doodled Pendleton + Pineapple XD;
Been busy with starting to thumbnail/storyboard the thesis film (Come to me, dear Pendleton film title!) so I haven’t had much art that isn’t scratchy bits of pencil chaos.
You’ve seen some of it already (you just don’t know it) but here’s a selection of things for my pitch package (that you haven’t seen already!) :D
I still don’t know what to call this…… however Ms Pink Flamingo is Penelope.
I also don’t know exactly how I want to style the setting just yet, so the vicinity is pretty plain… but I’ll work on that! Actual design pack isn’t due until….. whenever week 8 is.
Needed to draw something for our digital class to break up and rig @ a 3/4 view. I thought of doing my film character, but then I was like “naw, now that we’re smarter, let’s try a people character again” (last year, this didn’t go so well LOL). Trying again! Lets see how this goes…
I don’t know if the expressions were necessary… but I had fun drawing them while he lectured :)
Scenario: When Kairi wakes up in Sora’s heart, she finds Ventus there. I wanted to do a comic or sequence of images, but I’ll just write a little something instead :)
Some super super rough animation for Pendleton :D; trying to figure out how he moves!
Have been playing Reverse/Rebirth in the 1.5 bundle the last many nights and had an overwhelming urge to sketch Riku…. and sketchiness happened!
I was going through stuff and found the other heartless gif I’d made! I never posted it. I had a ton of fun with these.
Mental Note: Always make keys! I straight-aheaded both heartless animations and then wasted a bunch of time re-sizing it all.
I couldn’t find a cat tree anywhere that was sturdy and I was willing to pay for, so I made one myself! When I adopted my cats, I didn’t know my tortie would grow up to be built like a beast, so stuff has to be arranged and built in a way that it accommodates this big, heavy, very strong cat who loves to climb and jump (and who might actually be part lion). I ended up with about 20 pages in my tiny sketch book of schematics and measurements to make sure this this was right LOL. Took 7 exhausting days to make (mostly because I kept having to run back to Home Depot D:). The deceptive amount of carpet cutting and staple gun work (that you wouldn’t think would be thaaat much work) was so much work it left my hands swollen for the two days after it was done LOL. They’re better today (I can bend my fingers again, yay!). There is a definite reason construction folks have beastly hands *mad respect*
Now to return to cleaning the mess this project has made. Colonies of carpet fibers are everywhere!
In the meantime, here are some construction shots!
Now back to your regularly scheduled art tumblring.
So, art and creativity comes in many forms, ja?
When I draw, and draw at length, and work, etc, I end up sitting for many long periods of time (getting into the groove, you know that groove!) and so the days go: “Art all day, computer by night!” My occupation and hobbies keep me pretty stationary.
And I build up like a fizzy bottle.
Until I have to destroy something. Usually its the destruction of my apartment, because I do a complete 180 rearrange. TAKES DAYS and is very tiring. Alternatively, I build something! The last time I built something, I took this Ikea TV stand and this Ikea bookcase and made a new TV stand and book case out of them~! (Harder than it sounds, but still relatively easy).
This time I’m coming through on a threat I’ve been threatening for years: I’m gonna make my cats a cat tree! I couldn’t bring their old one with me to Ontario when I went back to school and I haven’t found one sturdy enough for My Beastly Cat, Hachi (first pic). If Nana (third pic) was just in the picture, I’d buy one, but Hachi has this history of breaking them, or knocking them over….. so I will build one that she can scale and that she can’t break!
The worst part about this project so far (other than how sore I am x.x) is that the carpet I’ve bought and am using I got for SUPER cheap and is AMAZINGLY SOFT. I should have kept it for myself >(
Wish me luck this weekend on my attempt at awesome cat mom-ing!
Wow, those cutout pieces are great! Did you actually cut paper by hand for this, or is there a digital way to do it? (Getting a little off the point, I love your general style, and your animation too. Especially the moogle-tossing Namine!) -Shomps
Thank so much~! :D
But no, they’re not actual cutouts (though that’d be really neat and I’d like to try it at some point), but I did them in Photoshop using the pen tool and textures (jean, wool, wood, granite, etc).
Kairi was fun, so I made another one in that style! :D
KHI Sora in Traverse Town.
Hi guys! I’m reblogging this older piece of art because I finally got around to updating it (the original file was rather low res) and I put a print up on my fledgling little Society6 account for it!
Now to fix Riku for the same reason. It was my favourite of the four :)
